r9view
Read comics straight out of the zip. Watch a season without unpacking a thing.
With the touch controls mpv never had.

What it does
📚 Nothing is ever unpacked
Point it at a .cbz, .cbr, .7z or .zip
and it reads the pages out of the archive, in page order, on background threads,
with the neighbours prefetched so a swipe lands on a drawn page.
🎬 mpv, with hands
The player is mpv through libmpv, rendered into the scene graph rather than a window stacked on top — which is what lets the controls be drawn over the picture. VideoToolbox decodes; the Mac stays cool.
💬 Subtitles that are actually found
Not just the .srt beside the file. It searches the whole folder and the
whole archive and works out which subtitle belongs to which episode — including
Subs/01/2_eng.ass, where the 2 is a track and not episode two.
⌨️ Every key is yours
A comic reader and mpv under one keyboard, and which one a key should mean depends on where you came from. So every binding is a row in Settings you can retype, with conflicts refused rather than silently swallowed.
🖐 Built for a tablet first
Swipe the page, pinch to zoom, double-tap a third of the screen to skip ten seconds, press and hold for 2×, drag for volume on the right and brightness on the left.
🔖 It remembers
The page you stopped on and the second you stopped at, and reopens there. Nothing is ever written next to your files.

The exotic half — AVIF, JPEG XL, PSD, OpenEXR, camera RAW — is decoded by macOS itself through ImageIO, so the list grows with the system.
